The UK has committed to spending at least £5.8 billion between 2016/17 and 2020/21 on International Climate Finance (ICF), and in 2019 announced a further doubling to £11.6 billion between 2021/22 and 2025/26, in order to help developing countries realise the opportunities from the transition to a lower carbon pathway, to build resilience to floods, droughts and weather extremes, particularly amongst the poorest and most vulnerable, and support better management of natural resources. The ICF is split across DFID, BEIS and Defra.
